Two theoretical post-doctoral positions available, in collaboration with Prof. Gershon Kurizki at Weizmann

May 13, 2014

We advertise 2 theoretical post-doctoral positions in a joint project of the Kurizki group at the Weizmann Institute (http://www.weizmann.ac.il/chemphys/gershon/) and the Bar-Gill group at the Hebrew University (https://scholars.huji.ac.il/bargill) in Israel, focused on quantum many-body physics of atomic-like systems in the solid-state.

The successful candidates will be engaged in 2 main efforts:

  • One effort will deal with novel schemes for coupling and control of NV centers and superconducting qubits, with the goal of creating deterministic quantum networks for quantum information processing and quantum simulation. This part of the work will include theoretical investigations and modelling of realistic experimental scenarios, using tools of quantum optics, circuit QED and quantum control theory.
  • The other effort will consider fundamental quantum thermodynamic limits related to these systems, and their coupling to various realistic environments, including spin baths and 2-level fluctuators. This effort will rely on concepts of quantum thermodynamics and quantum information theory, and be based on techniques of open quantum systems and their dynamical control.

The applicants should have a strong background in quantum theory, with an advantage to experience in modelling or open quantum systems.

Interested applicants should send a CV, a letter of intent and 2 recommendation letters to gershon.kurizki@weizmann.ac.il and bargill@phys.huji.ac.il.

Starting date is flexible, preferably before Sept. 2014.

Successful candidates will receive post-doctoral fellowships for a 2-year period.
